Post 3 Brief Screening Report: "Argo"

“Argo” is truly an amazing American underdog story. The sloppy and unorganized CIA agent, Tony Mendez, really transforms into an awesome American hero that all people should strive to be like.  Mendez, played by Ben Affleck, is sent to Iran in a last ditch elaborate scheme to rescue six American diplomats that are being hunted down by the extremists. They planned to be a Canadian film crew on the hunt for the perfect site for their new movie “Argo.”

This was a fantastic movie with a really solid cast. Ben Affleck really does a great job portraying Mendez in the film, and he really showed the complete roller coaster of emotions the movie brings out. This courage and sheer ambition is exactly what saved these six Americans, and bravery was needed for each person to get to safety.

One of my favorite aspects of the film is the amazing cinematography. The raw emotions the movie captured ranging from the anger of the Iranian citizens, the deep emotions of the seven Americans yearning for safety and even the flamboyant Hollywood scenes of the late 1970’s. This whole movie kept my attention during the entire film. I especially love history and this movie really did a great job at giving justice to this very unbelievable moment in history.  The courage that Tony Mendez portrayed during the whole film was wonderful to watch. Even when he was told not to continue, he still kept going for the good of the people and the country. Overall, I would say this is a must watch movie, and each and every American should admire the courage that everyone involved in this process did. The entire Iranian and American conflict was extremely hostile during this time period. Thankfully this is the outcome that happened, because Iran was a very scary place and anger was in full force.
